Tip of the Day

Some Assembly Required

Bringing home a pre-fab bookcase this weekend? Putting together a home entertainment center? Today you'll learn: When it says ?some assembly required?, being smart and prepared is required too! First of all, knock-down furniture (which is what it's called) is tightly packed and deceptively heavy, and it can be a ?knock-down drag-out? nightmare to handle and assemble if you don't do things right. At the store, get some help to move and load it. Once home, open the box and carry in only a few pieces at a time. Also, decide where you want to assemble it. Do you want to assemble the product in the garage and carry it in, or build it inside? Once you decide, lay everything out in an organized manner and read the instructions start to finish before you get underway (not as you go along!) A power screwdriver is a must; hand-working all those connectors is tough. Finally, once it's assembled, be sure the finished size isn't too big to get it where you want it when you're done!
