Tip of the Day

Super-stain Monday

The Super Bowl has come and gone, but as they say, it ain't over 'til it's over. Today you'll learn how to tackle Super Bowl party mess with clean-up tricks that passed our test. Did an exciting play end with cheers... and spilled beers? Soggy beer-soaked carpets turn brown if allowed to dry. Blot first, rinse with club soda, blot again...and use carpet cleaner or spot remover. Then, to prevent a brown ring from any residual brew, use a hair dryer. Fumbled guacamole? Scoop up what you can, rinse with club soda, blot, wait ten minutes, and rinse again with cool water. Then use carpet cleaner or spot remover. Some of the toughest are stains in the 'red zone?, such as salsa, chili, sloppy joes, red wine and ketchup. First, use baking soda to absorb liquids. Then scoop up solids, rinse with club soda, and blot. Clean remaining stains with a solution of one half cup of hydrogen peroxide and one teaspoon of ammonia. Rinse with water and blot dry. Presto... now it's over!
