Tip of the Day

Connecting door colors

"I Love Lucy" made its TV debut on this day in 1951. In one episode Lucy and Ricky were deciding what color to paint the edges of a door. It connected two rooms -- a blue kitchen and a yellow living room. Lucy wanted blue edges so it looked good from the kitchen; Ricky preferred yellow because that's what you saw when you came in the front door -- and what you looked at from the living room. Thinking he had won, Ricky left for the club and Lucy went to work. She painted the latch edge that swung into the kitchen blue to match that room. Then she painted the hinge edge that faced the front door and living room yellow to match there. When Ricky returned, he saw yellow and thought he had prevailed. Later, in the kitchen he noticed the blue edge. "Ay Carumba, you got yellow on one edge and blue on the other!" And that's the On The House Tip for today.
