Tip of the Day

Termite sniffing dogs

Recently we told you about mold dogs that sniff out mold in homes -- without destructive testing. Today, you'll learn dogs are, again, in the spotlight. Only this time they're chasing termites. Dogs, with their sensitive noses, are being put to new uses every day. Now, that includes sniffing out termites. Whereas conventional testing and detection often take months, with destructive work that costs thousands of dollars, a specially trained dog can detect the methane gas given off by termites and find a thriving colony in a matter of minutes. And they do so without tearing up ceilings floors and walls. If you suspect you've got a termite problem, check the Internet under "termite dogs." And that's the On The House Tip for today.
