Tip of the Day

Self-cleaning glass

Alfred Hitchcock, the master of mystery, was born on this day. One of his movie classics was "Rear Window" starring Jimmy Stewart as a news photographer housebound with a broken leg. Stewart's character thought he saw a murder in a neighbor's apartment through his rear window but he wasn't certain of what he'd seen. He could have had a better view if he had a new product being offered -- self-cleaning window glass. A durable transparent coating is applied with properties that are energized by UV rays from the sun and slowly break down and loosen organic dirt and hydrophilic properties. That causes rain and water to sheet evenly over the glass instead of beading -- flushing it clean and drying without spotting or streaking. If Jimmy Stewart's rear window had self-cleaning glass, he would have had a clearer view, and, perhaps, the answer to the murder mystery. And that's the On The House Tip for today.

Broken Light Bulb
To remove broken bulbs, first unplug the lamp, or turn off the power. Press a rubber ball or even a potato firmly into the metal socket and twist.
