Tip of the Day

Softer denim

Are your new blue jeans a bit stiff, rough and uncomfortable? Here's how to soften new jeans for real comfort: From deep within the Carey Brothers' mine shaft of knowledge, we bring ways to make new jeans city-slicker soft. While they're clean, take them down to the old watering hole. Fill your washtub with water and a half cup of salt; then wash the jeans just as you usually do. Wash them thoroughly -- maybe even twice. Then hang them out to dry. They'll become as soft as a newborn baby's bottom. And that's the On The House Tip for today.
