Tip of the Day

Remove tub/shower decals

Lynda Carter, who played "Wonderwoman" on TV, was born on this day. She played Diana Prince a mild-mannered secretary. When trouble threatened, Diana would whirl and then emerge as Wonderwoman. In one episode, she encountered a sticky problem -- removing old nonskid decals from her bathtub. The decals were worn and dirty -- a real mess. Diana tried peeling and soaking without success. This was a job for Wonderwoman! With a whirl she appeared and immediately got to work. Drawing a golden hair dryer from her belt, she started heating the stubborn stick-ons, but they were not about to budge. Stepping up the heat, she covered them with aluminum foil and continued using the hair dryer. Soon they were soft enough to be pried up and removed with a blunt straight edge. Cleaning the adhesive residue with solvent, she wiped the tub clean. For more tips, visit our Web site at onthehouse.com. And that's the On The House tip for today.
