DIY sanding pole

In 1909, Robert E. Peary discovered the North Pole. In 1911, Ronald Amundsen discovered the South Pole. Soon after, man discovered the sanding pole -- a nifty device that allows us to sand way up high without a scaffold or climbing a ladder. But because we do this infrequently, we usually wind up using a scaffold or climbing a ladder instead of investing in a sanding pole. You, however, can avoid all these things: From deep within the Carey Brothers' vault of lofty thinking, we present this sage alternative. Indeed, says here, you can rig a temporary sanding pole using a household sponge mop. Just loosen the screw holding the sponge head, wrap the head with sandpaper, replace the wrapped sponge and tighten the screws. Then sand away. For more tips, visit our Web site at onthehouse.com. And that's the On The House tip for today.

Hints for Better Grilling
For added flavor, add wood chips to the grill to create smoke. Wrap the chips in tin foil, punch a few holes in the top and toss them onto the hot coals.
