Tip of the Day

Virtual home improvement

Are you planning some home improvements? Choosing products? Picking colors? Wondering what's best and what you need to do? Today you'll learn how visualization programs let you see it "finished" before you start. Visualizing what a finished project will look like is one of the three hardest parts of remodeling. The other two are living with a mess and the cost. While there isn't much relief for the latter, today you can pick and choose products and colors easier and smarter. A number of companies now offer computer programs for contractors and designers that use digital photos of your existing home and then add any number of building products or planned improvements until you have just the look you want. Don't like powder blue? Try yellow "cyber" siding. Adding virtual vinyl windows or a tile roof are easy with a renovation visualization program. For more tips, visit our Web site at onthehouse.com. And that's the On The House tip for today.
