Tip of the Day

Motion-sensor lighting

When your arms are loaded with groceries, laundry or such, with no hand free for a light, the going can be rough. Today you'll learn how to brighten the way when your hands aren't free to turn on a light. The answer is motion-sensor lighting, and it is a perfect solution for areas such as the laundry room, garage or the attic where you frequently enter or leave with hands too full to turn a light on or off. Motion-sensor units attached to standard screw-in light-bulb sockets are sold in hardware stores and home centers for about $20. Other options include motion-sensors that replace standard toggle-type light switches. With any type, the light will stay on as long as the unit senses motion.
