Re-Grouting Tile

King Gillette invented the first razor with disposable blades on 1901. Until then we shaved with a straightedge razor sharpened on a leather strop. The safety razor revolutionized shaving, but today a straightedge blade is still useful as a multipurpose tool for all sorts of projects. One in particular is re-grouting tile. If you're sprucing up your home for the holidays, re-grouting old and dingy tile goes a long way. And the sparkling grout lines in tile will make both you and your company smile. But removing old grout can be difficult. While there are specialty tools for this purpose (such as a grout saw), one of the best is the trusty razor utility knife. Use it to sever a grout line on both sides before using a scraper or putty knife to pop it out. The only difference between these straightedge blades and those of King Gillette's day is you don't have to sharpen them when they get dull; just throw them away. And that's the On The House tip for today.
