Planning to be away from home for a few days, a week or more? Then you've probably done the things you should do -- like stopping your newspaper delivery, having a neighbor pick up your mail and using timers to turn lights on and off at night. But experienced burglars can spot a house that seems too quiet and inactive. After a bit of surveillance, they make their move and break in -- often in spite in your efforts to fool them. There's one more trick that homeowners often overlook and that's inviting someone in to house-sit. Inviting someone to stay while you're away might be a nice break for a relative or friend and a bad break for those who wish to break in. And that's your On The House Tip for today.
