Year-round Weatherizing

While it might not be on your mind because it's spring, sealing up air leaks is still a timely project. Weatherization isn't just for winter anymore. While blocking out cold air and holding heat in is important, so is energy conservation on a year-round basis. If you have an unfinished area in your home, such as an attic or crawlspace, with a loose-fitting access panel, it could be robbing you of heat in winter and expensive cooled air in summer. All entrances and access panels to raw space, including garages and carports, should be well-insulated and weather-stripped to prevent negative air from transferring to living space where temperatures are meticulously kept at comfortable levels. Don't let heated and cooled air come and go at will. It's expensive, inefficient and a waste of comfortable climate. Looking for something good to do this weekend? Do yourself a favor and undertake weatherization measures. And that's the On The House tip for today.
