Fast Door-trim Fix

The first McDonald's opened this day in 1955 and added fast food to our increasingly fast world. Today "fast" still is a good thing, and we are always interested in easy ways to speed things up. If you remove old carpeting or a built-up floor and now the door trim is a bit too short, don't fret. A couple of "plinth blocks" will take up the slack. These decorative square wood blocks -- often found in older homes -- are used at the corners and bottom of wood trim. Just set one on the floor, mark it's height on the trim, saw the bottom off the casing, and nail it in. It's a quick-and-easy door-trim fix. And that's the On The House tip for today.
