It's the Chinese New Year. And it's kicking off 4700 -- the year of the horse. It's a perfect day for Feng Shui, the ancient Chinese art of decorating. It's a whole way of thinking and setting up a home, an office or any space where people go. It's designed to help achieve peace and order. The goal is to make places attractive and inviting, through the use of colors, furniture placement and natural things like sunlight, wind and water. Outside flowers add freshness and color, and create a natural curb-appeal. Inside, simplicity and neatness are of the first order. Clutter is a distraction and drains energy -- called "chi." Decorate with peaceful natural colors, and capture sounds of nature with wind chimes, fountains and waterfalls, wherever possible. Finally, Feng Shui calls for plenty of light -- both natural and well-placed incandescent. There are many Feng Shui books at libraries and bookstores. Check them out or buy one. You won't be redecorating an hour later. And that's the On The House tip for today.
