We're here at the Winter Olympics for the men's wood-gluing-and-staining event. Earlier today 15 contestant's wood-glued tongue-and-groove boards together, and 13 were eliminated for drips, runs, spills or gluing their fingers together. Now only two remain, Sven Jorgenson from Slobovia and Bob Johnson from the USA. They will attempt to stain the wood pieces they glued together earlier, which now are dry and ready for finishing. Here goes. Sven picks up his brush, dips, strokes and, oh, no! -- there's phantom-glue residue on the seam. Sven -- rather than his wood -- is finished. Now, here's Bob for the USA. He dips, strokes and scores -- a perfect gleaming finish revealing all the natural beauty of the wood grain. How'd he do it? Let's replay the video from earlier today. Here goes. He glues, joins the pieces together and there it is. He wipes off the excess that squeezes out before it dries and disappears from sight until stained. After staining it would've shown up again. He has no phantom-glue residue! He's a gold medal winner! And that's the On The House tip for today.
