Tip of the Day

Extension-ladder Extension

"The Jeffersons" debuted on TV this day in 1975. If, like George and Louise, you are moving on up -- on a ladder that is, the higher you go, the more you need an extension ladder. The higher you climb, the bigger the problem you encounter with going up and down for tools, paint or brushes. To create a dual-sided, movable-hanger device, cut a 5/8-inch or 1-inch dowel rod about 5 feet wide. Put a notch or two in each end, slide it through the hollow ladder rung at the height you're working, and hang buckets of paint or tools where you need them. When you move, take them with you. Moving on up? An extension-ladder extension makes life easier. And that's the On The House tip for today.

Vacuum Finder Radar
When you lose small items, haul out the vacuum cleaner and cover the end with a piece of pantyhose or cheesecloth held in place with a rubber band.
