Pop (Rivet) Culture

"The Howdy Doody Show" premiered this day in 1947 and after 13 years and 2,500 episodes, Howdy and the gang became an enduring part of pop culture. An enduring item in our toolboxes is the pop rivet. Unlike Howdy who faded away, they're still around and getting better every day. Pop rivets are great gadgets for attaching two pieces of thin metal (like ductwork) together or joining rain gutter sections. Wherever two thin pieces of metal need securing, pop rivets will do the job. But this great little item just got better. There now are pop rivets that are threaded. Got a thin metal something with stripped threads? Screws that just spin got you scratching your head? Just pop in a threaded rivet, and you're back in business with a threaded hole that is just as good as new. And that's the On The House tip for today.
