It's the day after Christmas, and faster than ever dads are assembling toys, shelves and whatever. When it comes to rapid drilling and tightening, you've got to use every trick in the book to squeeze out every ounce (when kids are waiting and speed counts). Switching bits back and forth repeatedly to drill holes and tighten screws and bolts is a pain. A time-saving tip when changing bits is to hold the collar on the chuck and power up slowly (in forward or reverse) to open or close the jaws as needed. One way to avoid this timewaster altogether is to use two drills, one for drilling and one to turn screws and bolts. If owning two drills is a bit too rich for your pocketbook, make a trip to the hardware store and pick up a few inexpensive quick-change bits. They'll solve your time crunch and appease your "Brady Bunch" (and get you back to watching football in the shortest time possible). And that's the On The House tip for today.
