If you're one who's taking her advice and planning a car trip for the holidays, think "safety check" before hitting the roadways. One of the more important items is tire pressure, which is greatly affected by cooler weather. Every 10 degree drop in the outside air causes tire pressure to decrease by 1 or 2 pounds. If the tire pressure is 4 pounds low or more, it affects handling and causes excessive wear. Also check your spare. Many are smaller emergency-only, get-me-home type tires.
