"The Jetsons" premiered on television on this day in 1962 -- with all their gadgets and gizmos of the future. In case you're wondering what's coming, here's what the National Association of Homebuilders says is just around the corner in homes of the near future. Experts say homes are getting larger and will be (on average) 2,200 square feet or more -- with three bedrooms, three baths and garages for two or more cars. They will come with many more amenities and features such as modular wiring, multiple phone lines and high-speed data access for home offices and computer-savvy living. They'll be safer and more energy-efficient with built-in security systems, zone heating and cooling and high-tech controlled lighting. Construction products will be environmentally friendly with more engineered wood and recycled products. They'll have flexible multi-use interior designs that are easy to care for and require far less maintenance. All this will be here by about 2010. And that's the On The House tip for today.
