Tip of the Day

This BUD's For You

"The Monkees" TV show premiered on this day in 1966. Soon kids were asking their parents "can you dig it?" Today, those kids are parents. They might still be asking, "can you dig it" -- when it comes to making holes in their home's yard. All types of wires and utility lines are buried just beneath the surface. If they're cut, serious problems can arise. Water can be contaminated or cut off, telephone service can be interrupted, emergency services like 911 can become unreachable, and broken gas lines can cause an explosion. How can you know what lies underfoot? Just call BUD and ask, "can you dig it?" Most cities now have a free underground utility location service called a "before you dig" program (BUD). And that's the On The House tip for today.
