Tip of the Day

Breathe Easy

Agent 007 Sean Connery was born on this day. Before undertaking a dangerous assignment, he'd always meet with "Q" -- to equip himself with gadgets that would protect him from harm. Are you doing construction or repair work this weekend? Are you ready for any dust, fumes or vapors you might encounter? All construction activity creates some sort of breathing hazard. So, take our cue and be sure you're properly protected from potentially harmful airborne dangers. There are three types to be concerned with: gasses or vapors, oxygen deficiency and airborne particulates. The key is to avoid these hazards by planning ahead. Those you can't avoid, you should protect yourself against. Proper ventilation takes care of oxygen deficiency (gasses and vapors, too). And respirator masks handle these and most other things you'll encounter. Always match the mask to the task. There is no universal all-purpose respirator. Be sure it fits right, or it's like wearing no mask at all. And that's the On The House tip for today.
