Freeze-proof Faucet

If you live in a climate that gets cold and bitter, here's a warm-weather project that'll make you feel real smart come next winter. Installing a freeze-proof outside faucet with a long stem that shuts water off a foot or two back in the house (where things stay warm and above freezing) can be a simple project. It requires only basic plumbing skills and a desire to plan ahead (to avoid the inconvenience, mess and possible cost of a frozen and/or burst spigot). And that's the On The House tip for today.
