Tip of the Day

Good to the Last Drop

Coffee isn't the only thing that's "good to the last drop." Lots of usable stuff gets tossed well before it's used up -- like caulking, for instance. Here's how to get the most out of every tube. When you think your caulking tube is empty, don't throw it away. The plunger on most caulking guns doesn't extend all the way to the end of the tube. As a result, a half-inch or so of caulk remains. Next time before you heave-ho, remove the tube from your gun, cut off a 1-1/4-inch x 3-inch piece of dowel rod, slip it into the tube and start caulking with your once-thought-to-be empty tube once again. And that's the On The House tip for today.
