Wind Caulking

Igor Sikorsy, who invented the first successful helicopter in 1939, was born on this day in 1890. Whenever his newfangled chopper took off or landed it created huge gusts of wind that turned tiny air leaks around windows and doors in homes and buildings near the landing pad into major drafts. Something had to be done. The answer was ?wind? caulking, also known as 'temporary" caulk because it stays in place where you need it, as long as you want it, and peels right off when you don't. This quality makes it ideal for sealing off things like seldom-used doors or temporary installations like removable window air conditioners. Like Sikorsy's chopper, it was a thing whose time had come. Same holds true today. Got something you want to seal up temporarily? Remember ?wind? caulk. And that's the On The House tip for today.
