Tip of the Day

Motion-sensor Wall Switches

Are your electric bills climbing out of sight? Are you using candles to light the night? It's St. Patrick's Day, and a good day to start saving the green. If too many lights burning too long -- days and nights -- has your electric meter spinning like a top, motion-sensor wall switches will start bills heading in the right direction. A new breed of 'smart' wall switches features passive infrared sensors with a special lens that senses movement and turns lights on when a room is occupied and off when it's not. Try it. You'll be saving green! And that's the On The House tip for today.
