Cleaning Mildew

Anywhere you have moisture without sunlight and/or ventilation you, sooner or later, will have mildew. Here's a secret formula to clean mildew on any washable or painted surface. Start with 3 quarts of warm water, add 1 quart of liquid chlorine bleach and 1-third cup of powdered laundry detergent. Remember to wear safety goggles to protect your eyes and rubber gloves to protect your skin. Have plenty of fresh air and ventilation. Use a stiff brush and a sponge and scrub until all mildew and fungus disappears. For a more permanent solution on painted surfaces, and to keep mildew from coming back to bug you, consider one of the new mildew-proof paints now on the market, And remember that fresh air and sunshine are your friends. And that's the On The House tip for today.
