Opening up a can of paint that was put away a year ago or more year and finding that the paint inside is rock hard is discouraging, to say the the least. The next time you paint, stretch a heavy-duty rubber band across the open top from side to side anchoring each end where the handle attaches to the can. Then, when you dip your brush into the paint, you can wipe off any excess paint on the rubber band as you draw it out. The excess paint will drip back into the can rather than into the lip where it otherwise would accumulate and dry. With a clean groove, the lid will seal up good as new. And that's the On The House tip for today.
