Cool Tips for Beating the Heat

Remember being a teen-ager and the cool things you did to your room like hanging posters, road signs and the like on the wall? Now that you're older, there still is cool stuff you can do to your house to make it cool or cozy, while saving money at the same time. Here's the latest way to beat summer heat. Instead of posters, put shade trees on the sunny sides of your house. It looks sharp, and will save energy bucks too. If you really want to cool things off, add more insulation in floors, attic and walls. That'll put a lid on high utility bills and, like planting trees, it's a D-I-Y project. Then there's a whole bunch of neat energy-saving stuff like high-tech dual glazed windows or cool looking window films. Don't forget that gnarly, dense vinyl-mesh window screening. These are just a few of the ways you can make every day a happy day in your cool home sweet home. And that's the On The House tip for today.
