Garage Door Curb Appeal

Most people don't realize just how important a garage door is. Besides adding convenience and security, it accounts for as much as 40 percent of a home's exterior appearance. If it's old and weathered or falling apart, it will lower your home's value. If it's time for you to buy a new door, here are a few things to be looking for. Old one-piece doors are a thing of the past. They're heavy, hard to lift and hang out in space, while newer, smoother sectional doors roll up easily and neatly. And where wood once was the material of choice, new high-tech doors are what we now like to hoist. We're talking steel, space-age wood composites and lightweight fiberglass. They're beautiful, long-lasting and maintenance-free. And don't forget the new bells and whistles such as delayed light shutoff timers or rolling security codes that change with each use. And safety light beams that protect kids and pets from closing doors. These doors aren't just for garages any more. They're snazzy, jazzy, drive-by, high-style curb appeal. And that's the On The House tip for today.
