Childproofing Your Home

From the moment a new baby comes home, parents begin worrying about everything from how they'll sleep to what they'll eat. Often, an important thing is overlooked and if not tended to, can be serious. Many new parents are so busy parenting that they forget how curious little ones are. Kids love to climb, so keep pot handles and hot liquids out of reach. Whenever possible, cook on back burners and never set foods near a counter's edge. Be aware of what's in drawers and cabinets and invest in a key-lock assembly for cabinets where cleaners and solvents are stored. To a toddler, yellow dish detergent looks just like a soda. Even a trash compactor is a threat if not properly closed and locked. Folding-door gates keep little ones contained where you want them and away from flights of stairs. A little care and forethought means years of comfort and love. And that's the On The House tip for today.
