Painting Wood Window Frames

Painting wood windows can be a tedious, time-consuming task that seems to take forever, especially if your buddies are parked out front waiting to play golf. One of the hardest parts is keeping paint off the glass. Your choices here are either using masking tape, which takes forever to install and can be a real mess to remove, or painting first and then using a razor blade to scrape paint off the glass. Besides the latter process being time consuming, razor blades are dangerous and they can damage a freshly painted frame. Here's how to whiz through painting and to get out on the course before it gets dark. Try using a large putty knife as a shield. A 10-inch drywall-taping knife works even better. Hold the knife firmly in place against the frame at about a 30-degree angle from the glass and brush on your paint without worrying about getting it on the glass. Then move the blade to the next section and repeat the process over and over till you're done. Then grab your clubs and head for the links. And that's the On The House tip for today.
