Choosing a Garden Hose

There's a lot more to garden hoses than meets the eye. There are choices in garden hoses you should consider before picking one out. First, there are three standard lengths: 25 feet, 50 feet and 100 feet. The 50-footer is most popular. There are also three diameters to choose from, 1/2, 5/8 and 3/4 inches. Five-eighths is the most widely used. Hoses are made of three different types of materials, vinyl, rubber and nylon-reinforced vinyl. The latter is the most popular. So, you have three lengths, three diameters and three types to choose from, the most popular one being the 50-foot, 5/8-inch nylon-reinforced vinyl model. By just increasing the diameter to 3/4", you can move 6 percent more water. And that's the On The House tip for today.
