Nail Holder Hammer Tips

We've all done it. We've held a tiny nail between our fingers and picked up a big heavy hammer, almost knowing which nail is likely to be pounded. Ouch! We all miss hitting big nails now and then, too. So what's the answer? Have someone hold the nail for you? Well, here's a helper you can count on to hold them all -- big or small -- so you can hit the right nail every time. All you need is a homemade "finger extender." That's any type of do-it-yourself tweezers. We've used everything from a bobby pin to splitting the stem of a wood or paper match as a makeshift nailholder. Just put the nail or brad in the holder, and hammer away. You'll be surprised how your aim improves when your fingers are out of the line of fire. And that's the On The House tip for today.

Carbon Monoxide Safety
If a home is properly vented and is free of malfunctioning appliances, carbon monoxide will most likely be safely vented to the outside.
