Outdoor Security Lighting

Looking for ways to improve the safety and security around the outside of your home without spending an arm and a leg? Consider replacing an existing decorative light fixture with a spotlight that has a built-in motion detector. The motion detector acts as an automatic switch -- turning the light on whenever it senses motion in the area. Most motion detectors have a sensitivity adjustment that regulates the coverage area so that passing cars won't trip the fixture. Another feature is a time setting which controls the amount of time that the light fixture is to remain lighted after it's been turned on. The best part? These fixtures cost about $20 and can be installed in just a few minutes using a screwdriver. And that's the On The House tip for today.
