Fix Rusty Gardening Tools

Spring has sprung and it's time to think about airing out your house and planting your favorite veggies. But what will you do when you complete your search for your favorite garden hand tools and discover they are rusty, dull and almost non-operational? First, soak rusty garden tools in cutting oil. This will release grit and dirt from the surface and soften the rust. Next, use a soft wire wheel on your drill to do the rest of the cleaning. More cutting oil can be sprayed on the joints and grooves for a final lubrication. Then pull out a file and sharpen the blades. All tools, including those used for gardening, are safer when they are sharp. And that's the On The House tip for today.
