Winterize Your Home

Is your home ready to do battle with old man winter? What follows are a few suggestions that might not only help you fight the battle, but win the war! First, change your furnace filter. A clean filter will help the furnace run more efficiently. Second, avoid frozen pipes by wrapping exposed water lines with neoprene pipe wrap. This also helps save on heating water. Third, use a garden hose to water-test your roof for leaks before the heavy rains begin. Fourth, clean gutters and downspouts to allow proper water runoff. Using a garden hose with a spray nozzle makes this an easy task. Finally, if you have automatic sprinklers, don't forget to cut back on the watering time. And that's the On The House tip for today.
