Tip of the Day

Planting a Tree

It's summertime and that means rising temperatures. Instead of seeing red -- consider seeing green. That's right -- green! It's the color of most trees and also happens to be the color of money. What do the two have in common you ask? Well, aside from adding beauty to your garden, a tree can provide valuable shade that will shelter your home from the scorching sun. This can result in an average drop in the home's temperature of 10 to 20 degrees. That means that your refrigerator, freezer and air conditioner won't need to work quite as hard. The result is a more comfortable home and a lower utility bill. So, a little green in the yard can result some green in the pocket. And that's the On The House tip for today.
