Water Pressure in the House

How's the water pressure at your house? Just right? Too much? Not enough? With too little water pressure, showering, rinsing dishes and even getting a glass of water can be a major annoyance. On the other hand, too much water pressure is rarely regarded as a problem, but it can be. Dishwashers, clothes washers and other household appliances easily can be damaged by water pressure exceeding 55 psi -- and high pressure can void an appliance warranty as well. An $8 pressure gauge screwed onto an outside faucet with the water turned on will reveal the truth. High pressure can be managed with the installation of a $75 dollar controller. Add another $75 for installation. And that's the On The House tip for today.
