Repairing a Burst Water Line

Cold weather amplifies the chances of frozen water pipes. And frozen pipes increase the prospect of a pipe burst. As a preventive measure, install water-pipe insulation. As an extra measure -- on days when the temperature drops below freezing -- leave a faucet dripping as well. If a pipe does burst, cut out the damaged section with a hack saw and temporarily repair it with a rubber hose and two screw-type hose clamps. And that's the On The House tip for today.
