Making Plywood Objects for The Holidays

Looking for ways to spruce up your home's exterior for the holidays? Consider adding a snowman, a reindeer or even old St. Nick. A sheet of 3-quarter-inch exterior-grade plywood with a smooth finish on one side, a pencil, a black marker, exterior acrylic latex paint, some carbon paper and a pattern are all the materials needed to create your own winter wonderland. Use the carbon paper to trace the pattern onto the good side of the plywood, and make the lines darker with the marker. Cut out the object using a scroll or jig saw. Seal both sides and the edge with a white latex primer. The marker lines will bleed through the primer, making it a breeze to fill in the various parts with color. Ho, ho, ho! And that's the On The House tip for today.
