What the Carey Bros. & Rebecca Cole are Talking About:
This week on the radio program America’s #1 home improvement team shared more tips and information to fix what ails your home. Rebecca Cole gave her advice for summer work in the garden and Morris Carey had some tips for do-it-yourselfers across the country. With James out, the duo discussed bathroom maintenance including ventilation and cleaning to ways to repair leaks in the basement, and much much more. During this week’s show, we received several calls concerning the bathroom, especially the annoying chore of cleaning. One caller asked what the best cleaner to use on tile in the bathroom. Rebecca suggested anything that’s not abrasive such as Ajax. Morris added that Bar Keepers Friend is a good all-around cleaner, plus 409 or Windex is good too. Another caller asked what is good to clean the toilet bowl. Morris recommended the blue tablets, or the like, the only problem is that this contains bleach. It works great on porcelain but damages the rubber flappers in the toilet. He went on to advise the caller to go to the local hardware store and buy a bleach resistant flapper and continue to use the blue “stuff.”

CAREY BROTHER’S SOLUTION FOR CLOGGED DRAINS
First, boil 2 quarts of water, then measure out 1-half cup each of baking soda, salt and white vinegar. Dump the baking soda and salt down the drain, then add the vinegar and let this concoction sit and foam for a few minutes. Then pour the boiling water in after it. You should now have a clog-free drain.
