FIRE - PLACE TO STOP ENERY LOSS

FIRE - PLACE TO STOP ENERY LOSS

Unused fireplaces can draw heat up the chimney and out of the house, wasting energy and driving up your heating bill. A wood burning fireplace can account for 14 percent of air lost out of a home. Seal off unused fireplaces if possible or install a fireplace door to seal out the draft. In rentals where this isn’t possible, at least close the damper; because that can block some of the heat from traveling up the chimney.
