Programmable thermostats are one of the simplest, easiest and cheapest ways to reduce energy use in your home. Many models are available for less then $30 and programming them takes only a few minutes. Most importantly, you can reduce your heating bill by thirty percent or more by programming lower temperatures at night as well as during the day when you’re not at home. Setting the thermostat to 55 degrees when you are not there is easy to do, and you can always override the setting if you end up home that day. So if you don’t already have one, run out and buy a programmable thermostat today and start saving energy right now.
