OFFICE SPACE, ENERGY WASTE

OFFICE SPACE, ENERGY WASTE

Of all the energy used in the commercial sector, seven percent is consumed to run office equipment, like printers and much of that energy is used to power machines sitting idle. There are over 25 million small businesses in the US today, a group that consumes 48 percent of all commercial and industrial electricity. By using your printer’s minimum default setting for “low power” mode and switching off the printer at the end of the day when it’s not in use, you can easily reduce your company’s electric bill and reduce energy waste. Also, set your home or office printer’s default setting to print on both sides of a sheet of paper automatically, if it has that capability. If just one in four people did this, the annual savings would equal 130 billion sheets of paper.
