IF YOU CAN’T TAKE THE HEAT, GET OUT OF THE KITCHEN
When you’re preparing a meal and its hot outside, keep the door to your kitchen closed to the rest of the house. Also, limit the time ovens and other high-heat appliances are open. You may even want to save baking and other major culinary undertakings for cooler times such as mornings and evenings. When you leave the kitchen door open to the rest of the house, you can end making rest of the house hotter or having to use more energy for more cooling. More energy means more carbon emissions not to mention higher energy bills. Every time to open your oven, you lose 25-50 degrees, which not only requires more energy to re-heat but means that all that hot air is moving into your living space. Also you might try consolidating dishes in the oven or cook in immediate succession. Heating the oven itself typically uses 94% of the energy while cooking the food is only 6%. When you are finished, keep that oven door closed.
