Bring the Outdoors In

For those of us with little outdoor space, little time to garden or a little warm weather left in the season.

As you may have surmised by now there is nothing I like more than a garden...why not create a garden paradise inside.

Mix outdoor patio furniture with more traditional upholstered furniture by changing the weather resistant pillows with more comfortable, down-filled pillows finished in indoor fabrics that compliment your sofa.
Consider an iron trellis or garden gate, a work of art and hang it on the wall or use it as a headboard for the bed. Or frame the sides of a window to soften the edges without hanging a window treatment.

Antique watering cans in their original finishes make ideal flower vases. And large old terracotta olive oil urns, or stone or iron urns look great flanking a window, or entrance or bookshelves. Fill them with branches from the yard for special occasions for a real WOW factor. If antiquing is not your thing, inexpensive reproductions of garden accents are widely available both online or at your favorite nurseries.

Stone and cast iron birdbaths make fantastic end tables and lamp stands. Just remember when you're decorating indoors with heavy outdoor furniture, protect your floors with felt tabs or cork tiles.

Frame a reproduction or two of Monet’s garden or your own in better times….and Voila, a garden all year and no weeding or watering required.
