4 garlic cloves, peeled
4 fresh basil leaves
2 pounds ground beef
½ cup grated Parmesan cheese, or more to taste
3 tablespoons tomato paste
1 tablespoon oregano
sliced mozzarella (optional)
6 to 8 burger buns
In a food processor, chop the garlic and basil leaves until finely chopped. In a large bowl mix the ground beef, grated cheese, tomato paste and oregano. Toss in the garlic and basil and mix thoroughly.
Form 6 to 8 patties with your hands and cook on a hot grill. For medium well, grill for 12 to 14 minutes, turning once. For cheese burgers, top with sliced mozzarella the last 2 minutes of grilling. During the last few minutes, toast buns until lightly toasted.
Serve lettuce, tomato, sliced onion and condiments of your choice.
