Pappardelle with Italian Sausage
You may not be able to pronounce this one - but you'll surely be able to make it!
2 tablespoons olive oil
1/2 pound sweet Italian sausage, casing removed
1/2 pound hot Italian sausage, casing removed
2 garlic cloves, chopped
1 tablespoon Dom DeLuise Italian Blend
2 red bell peppers, seeded and chopped
1 cup chopped fresh basil leaves, plus more for garnish
2 28 ounce cans diced plum tomatoes
1/2 cup half & half
salt & pepper, to taste
1 pound pappardelle pasta (wide, flat noodles)
grated Parmesan cheese
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add both sausages, break up with a wooden spoon and cook 5 to 7 minutes or until sausage is cooked through. Add garlic, Dom's Italian Blend, red peppers, basil, tomatoes and half & half and simmer on low about 30 minutes. Season with salt and pepper, to taste.
While above is simmering, cook pasta al dente. Place pasta on a large platter and top with sausage sauce, freshly torn basil leaves and grated cheese.
